Blogger Styling Challenge

Among my many hobbies is making mood boards and collages (may have noticed from some of my earlier posts). Even when I was a little girl I was always that child who cut up their Mother's magazines and got paste all over the place. So when I was given the opportunity to participate in this years Two Point Oh LA Spring Trend Fashion Show Competition (check out last year competition), I went straight to my polyvore account to put together some inspiration. My partner store, Yali offers an array of men and womens urban wear, which I think will offer some fun styling. Since this is a competition I can't reveal my master plan just yet;)...but if you want to stay updated on the latest deeds please make sure to follow me on Twitter tomorrow

Blogger Lover 101: How to become a Blogger with Benefits

(From left to right: Two Point LA founder Kelsi Smith, Preface PR Lindsey Larson,
thelookbook.com Kristen Steinhilber Calavas, and Beauty Publicist Jamie Stone)

So one of the benefits of being a LA based blogger is that I have the honor of
being part of a wonderful blogger organization called, Two Point Oh LA. Through this organization members get exclusive invites to various events and educational panels. This past weekend I attended the PR Panel at the CMC. Panelist Lindsey Larson, Kristen Steinhilber Calavas, and Jamie Stone took the time to give us bloggers some much needed insider info on how to get better feedback when contacting prospective brands representatives.

Be Clear- Make sure your email is concise and straight to the point. Let them know what brands you have on board and make sure these brands share a similar target market.

Beware of generic (aka...boring) emails
- Although professionalism is vital, make sure to keep your pitch letter as genuine and personal as possible. Include why you want that specific brand and share what you know about the company/brand.

Schedule a Face to Face
- A tip that I found surprising is that Publicist actually are open to those who extend a quick coffee meeting before sending the email.

Know your dates- Although publicist are flattered by your interest in their brands, it is important that you take the fashion calendar under consideration. Don't expect to get a response from a busy PR agency in the middle of Fashion Week.

Follow Up
- A quick follow up a few days later never hurts. In most cases it actually will get you noticed over several of emails in their inbox.

LA'S OWN.

The Golden Globes may be this Sunday, but the kick off parties have already begun. Earlier this week, T magazine hosted their own Pre-Golden Globe shindig at West Hollywood eatery, Gardens of Taxco. This eclectic group of actresses, musicians, and fashion members, also showed their unique sense of style. As much as I love to cover the NY and European party scene, it was pretty nice to hear Alexa Chung was enjoying my city.
Can't wait to see Sunday's red carpet...

Welcome to the "Front Row"....Emmanuel Alt

When I first heard that Carine Roitfeld was stepping down as French Vogue Editor and Chief I was immediately shocked and skeptical to see who would even attempt to fill her shoes. Then after a short Holiday break Tweets sent from all of the fashionable parts of "Twitterspace" announced that Emmanuel Alt will be Roitfeld's replacement. Though many of us were not surprised, aside from a few street style sightings we were kinda left wondering who this lucky lady really is...So after a tad bit of digging I continued to still not find much needed information... until I came upon StyleCaster.

The Dish:
- Alt first joined the French Vogue team in 2000
- She is best known for her edgy chic style both on and off set
- In the 90s, Alt worked with Roitfeld at French women's mag, 20Ans
- She has been known to draw her styling inspiration from the film "Saturday Night Fever"
- She's a huge MJ fan and is even responsible for styling him in Balmain, for what would have been his last tour

Let the Fashion Honor's...Roll

I always enjoyed the saying, "give honor to whom honor is due"...or something like that, well last night the fashion world did exactly that. Some of my idols along with NYC's best came together for the 2010 NYC & Company Foundation Leadership Awards Gala at the Plaza Hotel. Among those honored was DVF, and unsurprisingly Anna Wintour. The event seemed amazing and the fashions seemed to follow.

MY STANDOUT FAVORITES
Me being the accessory obsessive person that I am, loves these looks, yet I felt Stacey Bendet's outfit was a bit to under dressed for the whole Gala scene.

Donna Karan

Alice + Olivia designer, Stacey Bendet

but if I had to choose one style star for the night, I will definately pick Vera Wang. I felt she conquered staying chic and appropiate by pairing a crystal statement necklace with simple silk dress:)

but what do you think...who do you think took the night?

Sniff This...Kanye, Pucci, and Scents

So it may be hard to cop her famous personal style, but pretty soon it won't be hard to cop her scent. Anna Dello Russo recently leaked a video and ad for her new fragrance, "The scent of Anna Dello Russo", which will be available on yoox.com.

Twirling to the beats of Kanye West while adorned in a beautiful white Emilio Pucci gown and elaborate Alan Journo headpiece, if this video is any indication of her perfume...then I seriously can't wait!

Blogger Lover:Fashion Cappuccino

From outfit post to online shopping tips, this blog is a go to guide for any fashionista. With a gorgeous Hawaiian scenery as her backdrop Shin started her blog as personal stlye blog and has now evolved it into a medium which connects to over 800 followers across the globe. What drawnme most to her blog was her personal sense of style. Never looking overdressed or over thought, Shin's style is a true definition of "effortlessly chic". So when she agreed to conduct interview with little ol' me...I was more than delighted.

Personal Collage made by ME!! (Click to Enlarge)

  • How long have you been doing Fashion Cappuccino and what inspired you to start a personal blog?
I've been blogging since November 2008 and I read a lot of fashion blogs. I thought I could start one and share my personal style too.

  • When you’re not blogging what else do you do in your free time?
I like working out, going to the mall, hanging out with friends and reading.

  • Name three pieces in your closet that you just can’t live without.
My Topshop white blazer, maxi black dress and white sheer button-up shirt.

  • What’s one fact about yourself that you think your followers don’t know?
I love Cheese Burgers! I'm crazy about them. Most people take a quick look at me and think I don't eat much or that I'm a vegan, but I love, love to eat!

  • Who’s your favorite fashion blogger and why?
I have so many favorites and I keep discovering new ones all the time. I like fashion bloggers who have their own distinct style.

  • If you can choose to sit in the front row at any fashion show, what show would you choose and who would you like to sit next to?
Oooh, that is a very tough question! I think if I have to just choose one, I would say Marc Jacobs because I consider him a genius and such a great designer!

Special thanks to Shin from Fashion Cappuccino. It was a pleasure!!!xoxoxo

And reader's make sure to stay tuned for my next Blogger Lover post, I have a very special blogger interview I think you all will love ;)

Blogger Lover- Karla's Closet

As mentioned before, I have a EXTREME fascination and love for fashion blogs. They move me, they inspire me, they're pretty are much my fashion haven!!! I know it may sound a bit over exaggerated but truly I'm in love and with this whole blogger world expanding it wouldn't be unfit to consider them as member's of the front row too. So with a love so deep I felt it was only right for me to share my weekly favorite post to the one group that will actually listened to me...YOU!!!

photocredits: karlascloset

Almost three years ago I remember opening my latest issue of Teen Vogue and reading the pages of their "Blogger Issue". Funny thing is at the time I knew very little about this whole fashion blogging thing, but visit one entitled Karla's Closet. Since then I have continued to note her as my favorite blogger for several reasons. One, she a LA Valley girl like me. Two, I love blazers and so does she. Three, because she's just the coolest...So this week I decided to post an outfit post from her...

To be Bold!!

Several adjectives and one distinct print comes to mind when mentioning the infamous, Roberto Cavalli. I recalled choosing Cavalli for my first designer report during my first fashion class. Although there were several designer's I could have chose (though, like 85% of them seem to already be taken), something about him just intrigued me. To be honest I was not always drawn to the aesthetic of his designs, yet I appreciate his BOLDNESS as a designer. Whether it be the color he chooses, the lifestyle he lives, or the parties he host.
There is no doubt that all he produces is sure to demand EVERYONE'S attention.
So here to you Cavalli...Happy 40 Years of Fashion!!!

All Dolled Up!

Please forgive me for recently being MIA, but my studies (finals) have been holding me captive. But anywho...while I was stuck in textbooks everyone who was anyone was dolling up for the New York MET Ball a few weeks ago. Aside from the fashions, what I love most about this gathering is the fact that it brings all of worlds of high society together. From the front row to hollywood, and even the music world, this event is a rare opportunity to see all of artist in one location. In translation...the mixture of groups also brings a mixture of style. Therefore, I snatched a few pics and created a personal collage of my style highlights. Hope you like!!

And I couldn't forget to include this most cutest moment everrrr... Ms. Anna Wintour and Mr. Diddy dancing it up. Who would have known that Anna was such a party monster ;)

Dress like me...

So I been getting some request to post more model style and I totally agree. Models are not only some of the most beautiful women in the world, but there also known for wearing some of the most beautiful things. Imagine having Karl Largerfeld on your speed dial...must be nice. Well although we may "all" not have the privilege to wear what they wear it still doesn't hurt to use them as inspiration. I took my top three favorite models and tracked down their looks both picture on and off the runway. What I love most about these three ladies are that there under 25.

Chanel Iman
Aside from being a Los Angeles native, what I love most about this lady is her adorable bohemian street style.

Coco Rocha
On the runway she's known for fierce stare and strong walk. But when it comes to her everyday style she can be found in a chic trench or boyfriend blazer.

Sessilee Lopez
Best known for her signature pout, Sessilee is a Philly native who not afraid to play around with hair style's. Her personal style mostly consist of a menswear inspired wardrobe of leather jackets and slacks.
